Spongebob Lego - now available in the UK

Options
Edited to say that it is now officially available in the UK

My son found the spongebob squarpants lego on the US lego shop site and is desperate for it for his birthday. And I must say, it looks great. However, it is not available in the UK and is vastly expensive on ebay and the Amazon marketplace.

I emailed lego to see if I could order it from the US site (I can't) - but they did say to "keep an eye on the UK lego shop site as you might be in for a pleasant surprise soon". This can only mean that it is coming to the UK soon.

I asked a friend to look out for it on a recent trip to New York and he came home empty-handed as it is sold out everywhere - they are even limiting purchases on the US lego shop site!

This is a link to the US Lego shop site:

  • Don't hold your breath. Lego advertised it on there legoshop website as coming soon and that was last summer. When I emailed them just before Christmas to see if they had a launch date they told me that it was confidential information and they couldn't tell me.

The only place you will buy it at the moment is on ebay which means you have to pay postage costs from US.

    thanks ! :)

me thinks they can wait til xmas

    its quite expensive
  • I too tried everything to get hold of this for xmas - in the end I purchased all the sets off Ebay for an obscene amount of cash and had to pay £25 in duty tax to DHL !! It was a wow, but guess who ended up building it all, and it hasn't been played with hardly at all, but boy do I think its cute :p

A relative has recently come back from America on holiday and she said all the Spongebob Lego has been on half price sale in Walmarts for a while now -guess the US Ebayers make a nice tidy sum from the UK Bikini Bottoms fans ...

We had a similar scene with the Harry Potter lego a few years back, DD1 was HP mad, and guess who was sat there most of Christmas Day assembling it all. :D :shhh: I did really enjoy doing it though. :o

Thanks for this info - the prices are not too bad either - probably a bit more than they will be directly from the lego shop (when they eventually get them), but a lot better prices then ebay.

It's arrived - but at a rip-off price: The bikini bottom set (yes really) is £34.99 in UK, but £39.99 in US.
