Need an ergonomic office chair

One with a soft adjustable sloping back rest, high adjustable armrests and lumbar support.
Problem is that I really need to try them out for 15 minuites a bit like shoes. Last time I had to give away a chair I bought from Mail Order Viking away. I live near Bracknell/Camberley so this place in Reading is a possibility:

but it seems designed for traders and I guess someone will be hovering over me. Of course once I'd decided which chair was suitable I could order it any way I please.

Viking have a 30day trial period policy - plus they have the one-year no-quibble return policy if you pay a little extra - so unsure why you had to give it away rather than return it. Knowing their policy, they would be one of the first places I would look for a new chair.
I have a friend who has a bad back and needs to take particular care, she got hers from IKEA.0 -
There is an IKEA in Reading so that may be worth a try
Do Viking take it back post free?0 -
They did when i last bought one (maybe two years ago). They come & collect. I orderd three different ones as wasn't sure which would be best. I decided on the one I was keeping and then arranged collection for the other two. They even sent enormous boxes that would fit the (now-assembled) chairs.0

Wow, thats astonishing, you must have checked before-hand they would do this? Was it just a comfy chair you were after, or did you have a specific problem? Which one did you choose in the end?0
-
The dearest one! The other two were reduced in the clearance section. I didn't think they would do but they were good price so wanted to check them out. No specific problems but I like an adjustable back with proper support. This one hasn't adjustable arms though you can get them on special order from manufacturer but at almost as much as the chair cost!
I have used Viking since the 1990s before it was ever part of Office Depot. I always pay the extra insurance cost as it covers most things for a one-year no-quibble returns policy in addition to their standard 30day trial period.0 -
I'm looking for something with back rake (reclining) and fully adjustable arms, vertically and inwards if possible
A black version of these may be OK but VAT is on top and delivery not refundable.

It's so difficult without trying them, and don't really want to assemble then repack!0 -
Looking at their returns policy, they say they won't take anyhting back which has been asssembled so you need to be certain before ordering from them. Did you have a look in IKEA? At least you could try them out there before purchase.0

Indeed, although they said there would be 30% on return if I opened the box! I couldn't find the terms written anywhere.

They suggested I try one of the chairs at a Staples store, or get one via Viking and send it back! Although Viking don't seem to have the one's I wanted.0 -
It was the chairsupermarket site I went to when I clciked on your link in post 7 and tehn found the T&Cs here

under "Unwanted goods".0 -
Thanks for this
If you look on the Consumer thread, I have asked if their terms breach distance regs. They certainly do, and so are these lot. You can't charge for restocking or insist on the original packaging!
At least they don't charge 30% though, like the others, £15 is reasonable!
Unwanted goods / wrongly ordered:
Goods will be collected and a charge of £15.00 per chair collection and restocking fee. Goods must be returned in the packaging they arrived in. Goods assembled on site by third party or by an ChairSupermarket representative will not be returnable.
Anyway, I may have found a suitable chair through Viking, if their answer is OK, I will go with them, these other cowboys are far too difficult!0
