Easter Sunday

I am normally contracted to work on Sundays, but my employer will be closed for business on Easter Sunday, I have been told I can either:
i) take a days holiday
ii) take a day of unpaid leave
iii) make a day up later in the week
iv) if enough of my fellow employees want to still work on Sunday they will open so that we can do general cleaning.
Is this right?

I don't know about the legal situation but I think your employer is being extremely flexible.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

Are you full or part-time? Most employers factor bank holiday allowances into A/L calculations, this is probably what has happened in your case so the options outlined are clear.
I guess for you the ideal woul be a day's paid work / leave.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Part time work, and I'm really asking coz there are a few of us and some people cannot work other day due to childcare etc. so need the hours on the days set out in the contract.
Just wanted to check we weren't being cheated out of work/pay etc.0 -
In the past the office I worked in was closed between Xmas and the New Year and we had to save x days holiday for that time. The number of days holiday it took up varied depending on what day Xmas fell. Many might just do that skintandscared, personally may just take the day as unpaid leave as not too hard up at the moment and don't want to waste a holiday so early in the year. just seemed a little strange as during Xmas we were all paid for any shifts that we were closed if we would normally have worked on that day - must just be the way they've worked out their holiday/annual leave as you say.
Not overly miffed about it just wanted to check that all was above board0 -
Perfectly legal, the employer can dictate when you take ALL your holidays.
All the other options are them being flexable.
If the norm is work them see if you can get enough wanting to work to have the office open.
Have you checked you are getting the correct holidays as a part timer.0 -

Easter Sunday isn't a bank holiday - when the legislation came in for Sunday Trading Easter Sunday was deemed to be one of the days that stores over a certain size weren't allowed to trade .....I think Christmas Day is the same2014 Target;
