Just got one from TKMAXX for £50. DD looks stunning in it.
  • First of all, you should wear it with grace and dignity. You can be wearing the most gorgeous dress that you could only find in the boutiques of the city, but the hasty movements, diffidence and unbecoming formality of the situation can grease away the whole impression.
You can accompany the dress by palatine in summer and a fur coat in winter.
It would be appropriate to wear tightening underwear especially with a push-up effect even if you have a great body for wearing a long and tight dress.
And, of course, do not forget about the appropriate accessories. The main thing is that they do not conflict with the style, colors, and the cut of the dress. The same thing can be said about the shoes, you can wear shoes, boats, sandals.

I do appreciate sons are easier to manage than daughters but here is a golden opportunity to hammer home that the "Bank of Mum & Dad" Has Limits.

Find a family friend with good local knowledge of the charity shops.
    Hand daughter £50 in notes.
Send her off with friend (by agreement).
If she returns with nothing, (a) demand back the £50, (b) she's too darn picky & (c) can now go look for fabric to sew her own, or google said frocks (not just prom - bridesmaid etc also fun) and you'll pay Up to £50.
If she finds The Perfect Thing for £250, she can find the £200 difference. Not you. If she finds it for £2.50, then she can afford to have it drycleaned & possibly altered/fitted.
