Hi,
made(dot)com...site does not allow me to post links yet
there's an armchair (orson) on this site which I really like but some of the reviews that I've seen, regarding their customer service and product quality, have not been the best. I wondered if anyone has bought any furniture from this company before, and if so what has been your experience?
Thanks

I've never bought from them but here's a few observations.
The website is owned by a 29 year old Chinese national called Ning Li. As a result all the furniture is imported from China.
According to the blurb on their website 'Every 7 days, we combine all the orders for a piece and put them into production.' I'm not sure what happens if they only get one order for 'a piece'.
Delivery times are between 2 and 12 weeks and maybe up to 14 weeks. That seems a very long timescale to me.
I can't find a phone number anywhere on the website. All reputable companies have one so why not Made?
The Privacy Policy isn't the best I've ever seen. Just buying from Made seems to give them permission to bombard their customers with spam by phone, email or in writing. You can opt out but I think privacy intrusions like this should be opt in.
It seems like one of those ideas which is great in theory but due to the fact that they carry quite a large product range it doesn't quite work in practice. If they were to adjust the model to something along the lines of the way Groupon works whereby once a certain amount of orders are made for a product it's shipped, I believe they'd make a killing.
As regards customer service this website is pretty scathing:

Thanks for your reply, I was aware of many of your observations, where the furniture is made, the combining of orders and the delivery times and that wouldn't have been a problem really if I knew that I would get what I paid for in the agreed time. Yes the time scale is long however without paying a great deal of money, there does not seem to be much choice for design and quality in furniture out there at the moment, I'm prepared to wait for what I want.
Many thanks for the link I though, I had already seen some of the bad reviews on another site, which was the reason for my posting in the first place (you are never going to please all of the people) however having seen this along with their facebook and twitter pages has made my decision for me. Their customer service seems atrocious and worse they seem not to care, so I won't be using this company in the near future.0
