I won an around the world holiday so am looking to buy a good and not too expensive digital camera.I would also like a large memory card for it .Can anyone recommend somewhere to purchase this.

Yes. Cut down your search options right away, by only looking at one top manufacturer.
I would strongly reccommend Canon. (I have no interests in Canon)
Go to the Pricerunner.co.uk site and search digital cameras, then canon.
Look at their offerings.
I can vouch for their A530, which my sister-in-law has. (under £100) Or better still, the A540. Their brand new A550 offers more megapixels, and would be the best, if your budget stretches that far. They all have 4 times magnification optical zoom.
Just set the camera on Auto, frame your subject with the zoom (if theres time) and snap away.
You will need an SD card. I would suggest that you get 2 separate 1GB cards.
Go straight to Amazon.co.uk and buy from the cheapest source, considering also that you will pay an extra £4.50 each for P + P.

You might have to get your cards saved on to CD en route (photo shops), to free up more space.

how much is not to expensive ?

As your traveling you will want a camera that takes AA and rechargable batterys. a USB pen drive will also be usefull to shift pictures over to and soem web space so you can just upload from internet cafe`s rather than risk damage to cards or loosing cd`s.
