What can I sell from my garden to passers by?

I have a popular route past the front of my garden for walkers, dog walkers, horseriders, cyclists and kids on adventures all headed to or from the woods / river / park.
Can I set up a little cool box in the front garden and sell my wares to these passers by in the summer? (homemade cupcakes, biscuits, lemonade, cool drinks, etc.)
I know a few people up the road from me have their eggs, fruit n veg for sale in a similar manner sometimes.
Would I need a permit for that? And could I have some cool cans of beer in the cooler, should an adult wish to purchase such a beverage..?

I think if you're selling alcohol you need a license.
If you're selling home made products you might need to take hygiene courses & have inspections by the local authority to make sure your kitchen is up to standard.
Also, you'd need insurance to cover if somebody choked on a bite of those cupcakes etc etc.
You'll also need to check with your home insurance as they probably wouldn't cover any business issues. You'd then need separate business insurance to cover your 'stock'.
That's just off the top of my head & I'm sure there are more knowledgeable people than me on this site, who will be along to help out shortly.0 -
I've seen people 'side step' all the permits and regulations by using a 'donation honesty box' rather than charging for produce. I think thats how it's done ??0
