What are pinto/lima beans pls?

Hi all,

I've just been looking at the hillbilly housewife website and these are mentioned throughout. Could someone educate me in where these are available and describe what they taste like?

Thanks in advance

Hiya, Lima beans are what we call butter beans. Pinto beans are a mottled colour, not sure you can get them dried or not but you can get them tinned.

Here is a link with pic of pinto beans

  • FYI

any tinned bean is a fine replacement for a pinto beans, but I find the closest and best in texture in terms of replacement are kidney beans

  • PInto beans can also be replaced by Rose cocoa beans, found in Indian shops or Borlotti beans.
