just call your local tax office, and ask them to check if you are entitled to a rebate. Jeferey got his automatically. The Inland Revenue are automatically auditing accounts for previous years and paying back overpaid tax. If you feel you may have overpaid, call them.

You don't. Inland Revenue are not that generous they are worse than me:D
The only way you get tax rebate is when your employer tax you on emergency code whilst waiting for the correct tax code to come.
It might take few months & it might take couple of years before they refund your dosh for taxing you on emergency code.
If you are working -
Your normal code should be tax at the current rate of : 747L code.
If your code is "BR, etc" then its an emergency code ie : higher rate charge on your wages.RIP my dear dear parent : Mum aged 62 (17/5/1990) & Dad aged 89 (23/1/2012)0 -

not quite right Doc.
one of the ways you may have overpaid tax.
Employers may also take too much tax from your pay, has happened to me in the past, IR did an audit and found I have overpaid for a period.
When I became redundant after I had had DS, I contacted IR and I was entitled to a rebate because of me being redundant, having been on maternity leave and what I had paid for the previous year.
If you become unemployed after working, you may be entitled to a refund.
Best to call them and they can look into it.0 -

((hugs)) sorry you didn't get any joy from your wombling.
Best tip is to go when it windy and look for the corner where the receipts gather. There is always a particular spot where receipts gather. You can pick up loads really quickly.
Good luck hun
