The end is in sight :)

I'm about 6 months off my final debt free day :) (depends if I include the overdraft or not!).

But I've got real mixed emotions if I'm honest - and I've posted this feeling before - that I'm not sure who/what I'll be without having this debt controlling my life

But at the moment I just can't wait to get rid of it, I'm throwing everything I can at it (whilst still ensuring I have some life!) but its almost becoming an obsession!

Anyway, this is a bit of a rambling post - it also comes with lots of positive thoughts for all of you at the beginning of your journey, and congrats to those of you who like me are nearly there

wiggly - congrats on getting so far! I'd suggest still living the DFW way (maybe not as much ;)), and putting a nice little amount into savings each month.

D'oh! That's what I was aiming for, but now its the end of 2007!

By the way, assuming 8th June is a day after your 21st birthday, you're two days older than me! :)

    Hi Wiggly :hello:

I can understand how you're feeling as if you've had credit all your adult life, and then concentrate all your efforts on clearing the debt it will be strange to be completely able to spend all your salary.

What I would recommend is making a 'wish list' of all the things you want to do that will cost you money in the future, whether it's buying a house, going travelling for a year, having a complete spending splurge luxury weekend away etc. If you've got some goals lined up you can start saving for them in different 'pots' (making sure you get the best interest rate etc), and it will keep you focussed. It will also give you long and short term amounts to save for, so you may decide to save for 5 years to get a hefty house deposit together, but have a smaller pot that will pay for a holiday every year.

    Hi, Keep going.

The overdraft needs to be included as its a debt. Once you have paid everything just think of the possibilities.Iinstead of paying creditors save the cash and then maybe you could concentrate on either your mortgage or even start saving up for a place. just think if you could save enough money not to have a mortgage at all?

    good luck with it all.
