Rules regarding customising bought items

I'm not going to go into too much detail, but does anyone know ifthere are any rules surrounding customising bought items for sale on ebay, etsy etc.
Example: (not my idea but to illustrate my point)
If someone were to go to a high street clothes store and buy plaint shirts for printing etc or a crafter were to buy glass products for glass painting.
Are there any rules governing the subsequent sale of the items after customisation. I had an idea for possibly generating a little extra income and just investigating whether it would be feasible.
Thanks

Yeh, I did have a look around and found a fair few people doing things similar to my examples, just wondered if there was any rules about it like cutting off labels etc.£2012 in 2012 Challenge #232 : £561.29/£20120

There are manufacturers who produce clothing etc specifically for, or with the expectation that it will be customised for resale.
If however you try and customise a retail branded item then you could find yourself with problems related to design rights and passing off.
Cutting off labels can be a problem as many things have to be labelled in a certain way for sale, eg material composition and washing instructions.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
Thanks Owain
Do you know where I might be able to find a list of companies who manufacture for these purposes? I've had a quick google but not too sure what to search for.£2012 in 2012 Challenge #232 : £561.29/£20120 -
a google for blank clothing came up with a few possibilities including
http://www.firelabel.co.uk/shop-by-manufacturer.html which shows some of the manufacturers they use.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0
