Each person has their own individual tax code regardless of marital status (some pensioner retain the right to certain married persons allowances)I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0

People living together qualify for working tax credits - which single people do not (why I do not know!).0

If you mean the personal allowance, then yes it is, it increases when you reach 65, the amount you are able to receive depends on your income limit(when you reach 65)saxy1 wrote:Is a single persons tax the same as a married persons?

Single people can claim WTC but your income needs to be quite low.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. I wasnt sure if it would be different once you were divorced, from that of being married.0
