I was actually looking for something a little more constructive...

Sorry I was just double checking the figures.

This is just an impossible situation, the ex sounds like a total waste of space. Remortgaging to pay off debts even though he didn't contribute already? No deposit contributed? This is a big big error compounded with a drop in property value means a debt she'll be tied to for a long time.

As someone has said, to buy himself out of the mortgage he needs to pay your partner 45k. That sounds impossible, I doubt he could pay 45p.

If he takes over the mortgage and doesn't pay it then a default/repossession would go against both of them. This would be bad.

I'd be tempted by bankruptcy unless her income is good.
