They wrote to Natwest explaining - Natwest are not satisfied and have said no.

Then its not the reason for the decline.

The NatWest do not have to give the precise reason for the decline.

Wouldn't waste your time going up a blind alley.
  • Nat west have come back and said they will give me a mortgage once the default has been removed. Nationwide have requested this but it can take 28 days. Which means I missed the stamp duty saving and have to fork out another months rent.
  • Just checked default status on Equifax and they have removed it. So now that means I have a clean record can someone tell me where the best rate can be found? I need to borrow £106000 for 30 years property value £156000.

    What about Experian?

If it's still there, you'll be back at square one with an Experian-using lender.

  • Jesus HC. I didn't know that. Shouldn't Nationwide have informed both companies to get default removed? Knowing how these monkeys operate there I doubt if they did. These idiots are going to pay for this! I feel like giving up.

I'm not saying Experian hasn't been updated. I'm just suggesting you get your credit file from them, so you can check before you make any more applications.

IIRC the likes of Halifax, Santander and many others use Experian in preference to Equifax.

Despite everything said, i would still be angry with Natwest and would be firing off a complaint to them as well. If you intend to pursue Nationwide vigorously then you will need evidence from Natwest that they only declined for that reason (and I stick by my initial guess that Natwest were not just using that reason as a letter from Nationwide would have eradicated the problem).
