Don't tell the bride - vegas episode!

Did anyone else think he seemed a bit useless with money as well - surely you could get more then 6 plane tickets with 12k??
With three weeks notice though it'd be hard to get much of a bargain on flights etc, especially as it was during the WSoP, which is a busy time.
As per the rules & conditions of the money, I think that's fair enough. You put your wedding on TV, you face the consequences!0 -
Podperson, I think he and the best man spent the rest on the gambling, hotel room he had out tere for two weeks (?) before and generally living it up.
I say we campaign to find out what happened to the pair!
As it is such an infamous episode for DTTB it would be nice if they had a follow up episode. I am guessing that the couple probably wouldn't be interested tho.0 -
I read the terms and conditions of it, don't ask how/why:rotfl:, and they can add their money to the 12k, spend 1k less and change their minds on things but the bride must agree to what the groom says. So she can only change her dress if groom agrees or not wear the tiara if he says it's OK.
If she refuses to do a certain part that money is owed back. So say he changed his mind to England and rebooked it that's OK cos he can decide.
Last night's was brilliant. I can't believe he was so shocked tho sitting on the bed. What was he thinking.
I guess that is why some couples seem to get much more for their 12,000, they have probably put own money towards the wedding.0 -

I appreciate it was last minute flights but think this was more likely the answer :rotfl:poor woman!
Ally - it normally says at the start what their 'budget' is - I remember one a few weeks ago (might have been the Valentine's Day one with the medieval theme?) said that they had put in 5k of their own money so had a 17k budget.0 -
I watched this the other night on sky+ and couldn't believe him!
All that rubbish about how he wanted certain people there etc, well he could have given her the wedding she wanted in the UK with a bigger and more suited wedding, than a tiny one in Vegas. Granted it turned out quite cute, but so many people missed it because of his selfishness!
He even said 'shes gonna kill me!' when it landed on black... surely what the love of your life wants should overrule a spin on the roulette wheel. He could have said 'fair enough, its landed on black, means Vegas, but she wouldn't want that, bit of fun, but not for us'. So he knew she wouldn't have wanted it, yet still did it.
I don't think I would have done it if I was in her situation. I would have let them stage it for the cameras, but actually marry him, not a chance.0 -
I am watching this now on iplayer. It is one of the most ridiculous episodes...and yet I love watching it (does that say more about me than them!).
If she loved him, ultimately she did the right thing. But it was still a shocking thing for him to have done.
As an aside I really can't believe that couples who do DTTB have never talked about their wedding plans before the show...surely the bloke *must* have some idea of what the bride would want!0 -

Good point! In fact, if she didn't agree and didn't go with him to get a licence, their wedding wouldn't be valid anyway!
Perhaps they never made it official?!Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger No. 26 :hello:XStitch to do list:-- Birth Sampler -- Christmas Angel -- Mum's Xmas Stitch -- Christmas decs 3 & 4 -- Xmas Bird ---- Snowflake Sonata -- Be Jolly -- JE Unicorn -- Start HAED!!! --0 -
Found this thread so no idea if anyone is still interested.
My friend is the sister of the best man in that episode, although I don't know the exact details regarding having to pay back etc I CAN tell you that they are still married and still together
xx0 -
There was a follow up episode, where they are still together, and he has promised her a UK wedding to renew their vows (they are saving for it iirc).
I would not have gone! lolCross Stitch Cafe Member No: 86 :j0
