Mortgage after IVA?

Hi all

Any advice would be appreciated! I entered into an IVA just over six years ago. I clear this after 3/4 years and it is now 3 years since this has been fully satisfied.

I now would like to get a mortgage. I have a good job now (Teacher), have a large deposit from the sale of my last house after my partner and I split and am working hard to rebuild my credit history.

Question is can I get a mortgage. I have been tallking to an advisor who said I needed to wait until a minimum of three years since it had been fully marked as cleared, I recontacted them this week now that period of time is up and have been told that it is still being denied.

Obviously I don't want to keep applying as that will ruin my attempt at rebuilding my credit. I'm not looking for a huge mortgage (about 40-50k) and have a 35k deposit so I don't think I'm a huge reisk apart from the fact I have an IVA in my history. When I entered the IVA I didn't ever miss a mortgage payment and my house wasnt part of the IVA.

Any help would be really appreciated!

Claire

A small Building society will deffo entertain a cleared IVA. They may want 3 months Bank stats.
