My tax code was 747L, i have now recieved two different papers with two different tax codes for year 2012/2013, they are 348L and 462T.
Can some one tell me if this is correct or do i need to get in touch with them. Thanks

Impossible to say, unless you provide some more information!

348L and 462T together give you 810 i.e. the personal allowance of £8,105 for 2012-13, so it could possibly be correct

However since you've received two codes it looks like HMRC think you have two jobs, or a pension or suchlike... It should say on the coding notice who they've told to use that code - is your employer's name or someone else's on there, for example?
Excuse any mis-spelt replies, there's probably a cat sat on the keyboard

Strange, have your been on JSA recently? I would give them a ring personally and ask!

Get in touch but be prepared to have a bit of a wait on the phone since annual coding is being run at the moment, my mum had to wait a good 45minutes but got it sorted quickly :P

This happen to me in the last month or so, got two tax coding notices even though I have only ever had one job. When contacted they thought I was still claiming JSA (I stopped claiming over 18 months ago) AND working for my current employer. Within a couple of minutes they corrected this and I have now been issued correct coding for both 2011/12 and 2012/13.

I just got my Coding Notice today and they've slashed my allowance to £3000 - on the basis that I owe £1800 from a previous tax year. "You may remember us telling you about this before" it says. I says. No I don't! All of my tax in previous years is in shape.

Here goes a long phone call tomorrow....
