the amount is £100. They have spelt my surname wrong in the address. Is this a loophole or should i pay up?

Ask for proof of debt from the baliffs/debt recovery people. Also worth a visit to Citizens Advice Bureau. AFAIK Baliffs can only recover debts as a result of a court case so ask for information about that too.
