Tesco Baby Milk Clearance

This may be wider than just Tesco - I am not sure because I haven't checked.

The deal is that Tesco are clearing all of the old-style packaging baby milk - Cow and Gate and Aptimil Ranges from what I have seen. The new packaging has just been announced so I guess they are clearing the shelves to make way.

I got Cow and Gate Level 3 Follow on milk and Level 4 Next Steps for £2.99 instead of the original £5.99.

It may be that other stores are doing the same. I saw it in Worcester at both Warndon Villages and St Peters Tesco stores - I had 5 boxes in total - could do with more if I can find any!

good spot, the downside is that the shelves are being stripped and they haven't actually got the new style boxes in to replace them. We'd run out of Aptamil Extra and took me 3 shops to even find any in stock, whilst I don't mind finding a bargain, if Tesco are going to do it without having the normal priced new boxes to put out afterwards seems a bit silly leaving people without any milk. Ah well, got enough to survive a couple of weeks at least now

Yes I know what you mean - I ran out a couple of weeks ago and haven't encouraged weaning to cows milk just yet - even though he could - so spent a day hunting around for the one I wanted and that was before they cleared everything out! Still, stocked up for a bit now!

Is it just the 6 months+ follow-on milk they are promoting, or is the baby milk reduced as well?

If it is the Baby milk, and it's a temporary reduction in price with a "Special Offer" yellow sticker to encourage sales, then they are breaking the law:

    19. No person shall at any place where any infant formula is sold by retail—
    ..
    (b) make any special display of an infant formula designed to promote sales;
    ..
    (d) promote the sale of an infant formula by means of premiums, special sales, loss- leaders or tie-in sales; or
    (e) undertake any other promotional activity to induce the sale of an infant formula.

It is because of this legislation (Infant Formula and Follow-on Formula Regulations 1995) that many retail outlets (Boots, Tesco etc.) specifically exclude giving reward points for purchase of Formula Milk!

And people give Nestle a hard time for promoting infant formula!

Well that is interesting actually because in one store it was ALL the milks but in the other store it was follow-on and above only.

anyway Tesco have been doing 3 for £1 on the ready made single serves for ages..

They were clearing the Farleys 500ml ready to feed as well not long ago. First saw them on the website and thought it must be a misprint at 34p rather than 74p. Then bought up our local Tesco's supply where they confirmed that they were being discontinued. Now have enough in the cupboard to see out the bairn's babymilk days.

Just went into the local tesco again and this time they had loads of the old style packaging Organics Cow & Gate but it wasn't marked down at reduced to clear prices - just full price. When I scanned it it came up at half price £3.49 so I got a few more..

Well I wouldn't risk trying that as they may then say well you owe us the higher price....... I wouldn't fancy a battle with that!
