    So you have not filed tax returns at this point! This is dangerous because if you had done so HMRC only have 12 months to raise enquiries. Because you have not done so they have an infinite amount of time to say that the QUALITY of time you spend in the UK makes you either resident or ordinarily resident.

    The reason I am saying this is because HMRC have been challenging residence in 2 significant cases since you left and are about to change the rules again. You need urgent advice from a qualified UK tax professional.
