Moorcroft debt - UPDATE

You can.
Moroncroft will either be acting for Natwest, or they will be acting for whoever the debt was sold on to.
If you ever consider a full and final settlement then you would need to check with Natwest to see whether they still legally hold the debt, or whether the rights to it have been sold on. Don't take a debt collectors word for that, as they will often tell fibs so that you pay them and they get their commission.
If Natwest still hold the debt, then any settlement off MUST be agreement by them. Any agreement with a collector wouldn't be worth didly squat if NatWest still own the debt. You would end up some time later being chased for the rest.
If a collector has "bought" the debt, and they can prove it, then they can negotiate a settlement themselves.
Is it worth me just calling natwest and seeing if they will take a final settlement direct for a portion of the debt?0 -
Well, how long is it since you did either pay or write a letter acknowledging the debt?Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

I would sit tight if I were you. Aside from the statute barred issue -sort that one out first! - I know from long experience how totally ineffective these people can be if you avoid helping them out...:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -

As stated above. 3 years.
So to be 100% clear on this, about 3 years ago you did make a payment or did write acknowledging the debt?
Just want to be clear, as above when asked whether the contact 3 years ago was by payment, by you writing or by phone calls, you responded "just phone calls"Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Yeah I think it was just phone calls. As far as my brain remembers anyway! I don't recall ever paying and I rarely send letters.0 -

Especially if all the "debt" consists of is a load of unreasonable charges, let them sing for it.
I see what you mean! I'll try my best. Daylight robbery, bank charges.0
