Letter from Cabot Financial

Today I received a letter from this outfit asking for a payment of £199.58 in respect of J D Williams Mail order. This goes back to 2008 when I had fraud on my bank account by a student I had lodging here for a few months. She purchased goods in my name and even made a couple of payments (out of my bank account) then took out a payday loan which completely wiped me out and skipped back to Lithuania. This was all refunded back by the bank and J D Williams were told all this 2 years ago when they tried to palm the debt off to Moorcroft. I have heard nothing since that date, and assumned it had all been sorted out.

What do I do with this latest letter.

Presumably you tell Cabot what Moorcroft were told back then?

That the good were ordered fraudulent by someone else in your name. This was disputed at the time, and should have been resolved then.

Have you checked your credit records recently for defaults relating to this? If not, then I think I would. Cabot etc may have placed some if they don't know that liability for this was disputed.

I have today received a letter from J D Williams saying my debt has been sold to Cabot. I have written to them both (not the first time to JD Williams) repeating what I said 2 years ago that the goods were obtained fraudulently. We will see what happens now.
