NHS pension

I am in the 1995 nhs pension scheme. Four years ago I moved to a much lower paid job and quite foolishly forgot that this would affect my pension.
I know that my pension will be based on my final salary but does anybody know if it is based on the actual salary or the earnings. What I mean is, say for example I worked as many weekends and bank holidays etc as I could, would this boost my final salary pension?
I hope I am amking sense.

Im in the nhs pension scheme 28 years service and was thinking of cashing it in early as i am 53. I'm inclined to stick it out till 65 as I'm on £51K now - any advice?0

There is an actuarial reduction for each year you take it early. I think your past years accrual (but you need to check) might have a lower age for pension such as say 60. New years accrued going forwards might have a higher age.0
