My website won't load with "www."

Hey. I have a website davidlumsden.co.uk but it will not load if you type in https://www.davidlumsden.com . No-one seems to know the problem and the host just ignored me. Any ideas how to get my www.
If I had words to make a day for you,
I'd sing you a morning golden and new.
I would make this day last for all time,
Give you a night deep with moonshine.

  • works fine for me.
  • Hi Dalumsdens1,

Has it worked before? Your DNS settings sound as though they've been changed as you need to set up an A record to point WWW to your account.

Your host should be able to help you wish this, if not I would seriously consider changing hosts due to their lack of knowledge.

(I think you were meant to type https://www.davidlumsden.co.uk and not .com ?)

I know it's not an answer to you actual question but if it's any consolation the site loads fine for me with www. so your problem is at least not nationwide, i don't know if perhaps it's a problem with your browser although i'm assuming perhaps that others who you know have had the same issue when trying to visit your site?

  • it works for me as well. do you mean .co.uk instead of .com
Dont forget to click THANKS if I help you!!:j :j
  • Assuming the OP did mean that https://www.davidlumsden.co.uk is having problems (which visiting it, it certainly seems be), then yes, there is a problem with the setup of the domain.

Doing a bit of digging, it looks like the domain has been registered at 123-REG. What needs to be done is to go into the "manage dns" option for that domain, and change the record for www.

At the moment it looks like it's set as a cname to users.blogware.com, it could be either changed to a cname pointing at davidlumsden.co.uk, or an a record for 194.154.164.90

(send me a private message if you need any more help with the above David :) )

[edit add]I meant to mention - I use 123-REG to manage over 100 different domains at work, so I can talk you through step by step if needs be :)

I can get through ok with www. (on AOL)

I've had the exact same problem in the past because of the way my web host is configured - and no-one involved could come up with a solution.

The solution I came up with was to create a sub-domain called "www". and then either forward www. to the non-www address, or vice versa - But if you'd want to do that then I'd definitely check with the whoever you've registered your domain with to check that won't confuse their system
