Recycling Plastic

Quick question - I am in the middle of a major house declutter and have a few heavy plastic lids from large storage boxes. I really don't want to just throw them out (bit of a recycling freak!) but cant imagine the binmen taking the lids away in the green bin so is there anywhere I could recycle the lids? I have quite a few probably 10 so far with no doubt more to find as I go along. Does the local dumps recycle plastic?

What type of plastic are they made of?
  • Offer them on freegle . The main web site is www.ilovefreegle.org and you can find a group near to you. I am sure someone can put them to use :)

inconnu I have no idea what sort of plastic sorry, all I know is its quite a heavy plastic and quite long, fitted a very large storage box (the type you buy in the likes of poundstretcher)

Happy Gardiner do you have to sign up to freegle? Im always cautious of joining sites like those and freecycles as I always end up with 100 different emails

  • You do have to 'sign up' to the FREEGLE site, but you can opt in or opt out of membership at any time, alter your email settings so you do not get a full inbox and no junk mail.
I have offered many things on freegle and also acquired a few things that other people offered. I think it is a fab site. It is run locally and the other one called 'freecycle' is run via America and NOT local. There are FREEGLE sites al over NI, and worth a look , even if you decide it is not you thing. I would rather offer my unwanted items on the freegle site that put the item in the black bin.
