I take it that your employee only works mondays.

No they don't only work Monday. In fact our staff cover across all seven days although one is opted out of Sundays. The part timer I was referring to does 4/5 of a full timers hours (4 days per week instead of 5). She gets 4/5 of the full timers annual holiday (20 days instead of 25) plus 4/5 of the annual bank Hols (so 6.4 bank Hols instead of 8).

Clearly the number of hours or days entitlement a person gets varies from one company or employer to another but not everyone is on statutory minimum holiday. Although (point taken) not everyone is on better.

So how do they end up owing a BH, it's more likely they would end up using less than you have allocated so you owe thm unless you always shedule their days to be the BH.

We don't "trade" bank holidays really (v quiet) so just have one person in per bank holiday. So as there are 8 in a year and she works one (as she owes me one and a bit) and then usually gets the others off. They don't like working bank holidays and we don't need them all to work so we all agreed that just have one in per bank hol to put the lights on and open the doors etc that way they don't have to do too many each. For the full timers (or part timers that do extra) when they do work a bank holiday I give them a day back in leiu.
