Budgeting spreadsheets

Hi Guys

So ive finally decided that i need to get my bum into gear and get my mortgage over paid more than whats happening currently.

A bit of background - I bought my house 18 months ago with my now Ex OH. We were overpaying £50 a month - not much but every little helps!!

Luckily we ended on good terms and he is still currently on the mortgage. To takehim off before June this year would have meant a £4k early repayment charge so hes happy to stay on til then. he has moved out and i am paying the mortgage etc.

Due to a downturn with my job etc, im not earning as much as i was :( Currently i have £128,000 outstanding and am pretty sure that come June, im not going to be able to remortgage in my sole name as i wont stack up on the affordability calculator, even though i can easily make the repayments on the mortgage.

Im really wanting to get this debt down as much as possible - theres currently about 25%-30% equity in the house which is great as at least im not having to worry about negative equity etc, but i want to get the mortgage below 100k asap. I have £14,000 in savings that im going to pay off when my ISA matures in April but other than that i need to save money from elsewhere too!!

Can some kind person send me a spreadsheet so that i can work out overpayments and the like? Ive read that a lot of you on here use them but i couldnt find any links to any!!

As detailed as possible would be wonderful..........ive found a new lease in life since becoming single and getting organised is turning into an obsession!!! :)

TIA

    Hi

If you want to learn to understand what's happening with payments / overpayments, then you could try this out:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/...&postcount=534
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/...&postcount=536

which is a link into my diary on how to create a sheet. As long as you follow the instructions, it's not too hard to follow and the second link is a visual representation.

There's also a spreadsheet by locoblade, plus google is your friend - you should be able to find something elsewhere other than this site using google.

There - 3 quick options. Do post back if you use my sheet.

    Thanks,

    Financial Bliss.

Hi, just a word of caution - if you overpay before your ex name is taken out of the mortgage it still counts like he was contributing as well. It doesn't matter which account the money came from, if you own house 50/50 even if you overpay 10% he still can claim 50% of the house worth.

a very simple calculator will do most of the job if you want to do what iff's.
    I use
    http://www.whatsthecost.com/mortgage.aspx

for basic one off lump sums or regular monthly can be done easily.

For fully integrated planning with a budget and debt repayments I think the easiets option is to get an old copy of MSMoney or quicken.
