Got a few bits that I'm stuggling with and would like your opinions if you wouldn't mind.
First one...
Not including the top table I have 42 people to seat for the wedding breakfast and I want to do a table plan. Do I have...
a) 3 tables of 8 & 3 tables of 6?
b) 7 tables of 6?
c) 6 tables of 7?
There is a mix of 4 person families, couples and 4 singles so it'll be easy to plan who sits with ho, just unsure how to lay the tables out. I think I would prefer 7 tables of 6 because it'll look neat and even but OH seems to think the venue won't let us have 6 to a table. I know they have room for 7 tables as it was set up with 7 when we viewed. Plus, surely they would let us have whatever we want?
Second one...
I'm printing my own invites from ourselves, not from my parents, and can't decide how to write guests names! Do I write...
a) Mr & Mrs Surname
b) Mr Forename & Mrs Forename Surname
c) Mr Forname Surname & Mrs Forname Surname
d) Forname & Forname
e) Forname & Forname Surname
Really can't decide how formal to be! I know it's personal taste etc but I really can't decide! So I would really appreciate what your personal thoughts about it are. How are you wording yours? I have the rest of the invite sussed, just stuck on the name bit!

Have you talked to your venue about their table sizes? My venue had mostly tables that comfortably dat 8, but they also a few round 10 and 6 seaters. Their 8 seaters could squeeze 10 if it was a large wedding. That might change your options. You could have 4x8 and 1x10 meaning you spend less on centrepieces. :-)
I had slightly formal invites but hand wrote forenames only as there wasn't alway room if it was to a family or a couple that had different surnames. I used the full name on the envelope.Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0 -
1) What size are the tables? This will have an impact on how many you fit around the table - too big with too few people and it'll look sparse, too small with too many people and it'll look cramped. I've got 4ft round tables on hire, and we're seating 6 to a table.
2) I wrote "John & Jane Smith" if they shared the same surname, otherwise I wrote "John Smith & Jane Brown". (*edit* to say I only wrote names on the envelopes - I didn't write anyone's names on the actual invites).0 -
Love my OH to bits... after the disagreement about the tables he went back to the footie and came back in 5 minutes later and because he knows me well (I like things neat and uniform) has decided that we are going to invite an extra 6 people so we can have 6 tables of 8!! It'll only cost us £50 for the extra meals and I'm really chuffed as I had a few people on the 'reserve list' who I can now invite

Still not sure about the invites, may just go with Forname & Surname just for the ease of it.
Really think I'm beginning to overthink things!! Been smoke free for 4 years!! :beer:0 -
I couldnt decide how to do our invites either. After a drunken wedding conversation with my family i decided on forenames on the invites and Mr & Mrs J Smith or Mr J Smith & Miss J Doe on the envelopes.0

1b - it would annoy me to have tables of different sizes lol
2e - Need a first name and a last name just to be clearThe only people I have to answer to are my beautiful babies aged 8 and 50 -
ours will be be all fornames for friends and our generation or younger on invitations, older relatives are more formal as it just seems wrong otherwise.
You have got me wondering about my parents and step parents though, how do we invite them, or do they just assume? i think i may be thinking about this a bit too muchWhen you're chewing on life's gristle, don't grumble, give a whistle.

If mine don't get an invitation they said they're not coming. I just don't know wether we should put Mum and Dad or their names. So complicated.0

Me too! Which is why OH suggested an extra 6 people so we can have 6 tables of 8. Worked out a rough seating plan and it works perfectly :jBrightside wrote: »You have got me wondering about my parents and step parents though, how do we invite them, or do they just assume? i think i may be thinking about this a bit too much
I'm sending both set of parents an invite, and my DS and OH's DD so they don't feel left out!!lisajane8482 wrote: »If mine don't get an invitation they said they're not coming. I just don't know wether we should put Mum and Dad or their names. So complicated.
