As a rural owner we are well used to insulating our cars with carpet, as mentioned above, helps reduce roar. We are hopinh to line our understairs cupboard with carpet to become a cat jungle gym:o. We stayed in a hotel with our cats where they had done this, and assured us the cats would love climbing the walls. Our cats are good with carpet, so we were amazed when they were climbing every where with glee.
We are also asking friends and family to remember our battle with weeds when they replace carpet.....we have liften some after the winter to find its done the trick ina tiny corner.....if only we had more!0 -
Our car used to have the same carpet in the footwells as the sitting room. I used the old worn out ones as a template and the fit was very neat.
I've also wrapped carpet around the immersion heater as insulation.0 -
Hi Silly Moo,
Here's a thought....my neighbours instead of going to the recycling centre, bring over any large piece of cardboard or carpet to me, as they know I will use it on my allotment.0 -
I used the offcuts from the bedroom carpet to carpet the cupboard under the stairs and make a couple of mats for the hallway.
The rest of the underlay got used to line the bottom of a van so the person could transport furniture without it scratching.:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0 -
They can be used to line a garden pond!
Underneath the liner, of course and it stops any stones cutting through.
I'd advertise them as such. Now is the time people will be starting to think about ponds......0 -
I've seen/used off cuts for
garden (mulching/weed suppressor).
Mini door mats - really good having more than one because once really grubby they are really hard to get clean again. Especially stepping into the newly carpeted room that maybe a light colour. If your home is a 'no outdoor shoes on my lounge carpet' place then it helps with visitors how forget.
Pet bed mat - use under their blanket, giving them more warmth away from the floor (ie kitchen, etc).
Inline draught excluders - fitted under doors with gaps. I've used off cuts to fill in a door's gap so less draught escapes, yet the door can still move without getting stuck. Came in handy in my last home where the cold was also coming in from the porch in a steady stream.
CAr boot liner - line your boot with it, so with any spills (especially car fluids, etc) won't linger in the car and easy to sort out. Plus it can muffle some car noise too.0
