BBC Breakfast are looking to do an item on Mortgage Exit Fee Reclaiming, and would like to speak to a consumer who has had a go at this. Here is the brief:
If anyone is interested in being involved, please PM me and I'll let you know the details. We are looking for a case study who has successfully reclaimed fees, or who is about to try and do so. I wonder if I could ask any of your money savers if they would like to take part and appear on the programme.
It would involve a couple of hours filming (i.e. it wouldn't be live) and we are looking to do this as soon as possible - i.e. this week or next week, with a view to transmitting it shortly after.
We wouldn’t have to reveal the size of their mortgage if they didn't want us to.
Cheers
Dan

Is'nt this a little bit previous, considering the lenders will not have to announce what they plan to do until the 28th February. It is only from that point onwards that they will then have to be consistent with complaint handling. The below FSA statement gives a little extra guidance. So for any customer it would not be advisable to start a complaint until that point.
i am going to be starting a mail out to all my clients who have moved in the passed 8yrs and paid an increased exit fee. i will enclose a standard letter which they can send off to the lender and i assuming they stick to principles 1 and 2 then they can get a refund. but only if they paid an increased figure.
