Easiest place to get an unsecured loan (at sensible rates?)

Where is the easiest place to get an unsecured loan? I had credit problems about seven years ago so I have stayed away from finance.

My credit file now has nothing adverse on it (oh, I was one month late with my mobile phone bill one month). My credit lines are 2 credit cards, 2 current accounts (one has an overdraft facility) and my mobile phone.

I lodge at a friends and I am currently not on the electoral roll, and I have quite a lot of recent searches (I only found out the number of searches affects you recently and I have been applying online for loans and getting knocked back). I am told that the reason I am being knocked back online is more than likely the lack of electoral roll registration.

What options do I have?

Your bank. If you have been with them any length of time they will have enough info on you from the way you manage your account.
  • Ask your friend if you can get on the electoral register. You gonna be living there long?
  • I have just taken in my electoral roll form. I am not going to be there very long so I have put my mum and dads address on it. Maybe a bit naughty but I don't want my credit file looking like I move house every 3 months.

I have only been with my bank for about 6 months. As I said I stayed away from finance for about 6/7 years. Only thing I had was a building society savings account with a cash card.
