Bank account for bad credit

HSBC's basic account is, I believe, quite good. I also understand from posters in a branch I visited that they will upgrade after six months depending on how well you've run the account.

I have now also applied at abbey waiting for their reply. Only having a visa electron wouldnt be the end of the world and it would do.

I've always ad a visa electron and it suits be down to the ground as it doesn't allow me to spend money I haven't got.

just to let people know if you are interested in HSBC, i'm currently chasing them for over charges on my account which i may add have had for 20 years.
Not the most friendliest of people, have to talk to them in India call centres, got told by one colleague that i, quote ' should have managed my account better then' not bad from someone who knows nothing about my previous banking history which was good up until lately when charges plunged me further in debt. Would not recommend this 'worlds local bank to anybody. Have now moved to Alliance and Leicester online account. Had decision made in minutes, final paperwork came in days. Very prompt service.:T

seems abbey dont give visa electron to anybody I got turned down and only offered the most basics of bank accounts.

Can someone please explain to me why one needs a credit rating for a card that doesnt supply any form of credit?

With the Abbey BASIC account you get a CASHPOINT Card only, not an Electron.
