Advice needed to deal with Council

Thanks for your reply. I had never heard of a liability order until I started this thread so I guess what I have is the informal agreement as you mention.
I dont want to get my employer involved whatsoever at this point. To be blunt if it came to that stage I am sure the council have the power to find this information easily. But with the level of competence they have shown so far it would not surprise me if they contacted my employer in error!

I have now received another request from the council for income and expenses but they haven't acknowledged my complaint letter to them.

all quiet from the council now, I am paying money in and have heard nothing else. Can I assume all is ok?

I am an ex-Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) worker. I do not know if it still stands, but council tax debts could be stacked. For example, if you owed £240 council tax debts over two years then we would arrange a pay-back system of £2.32 per week (or whatever the client could afford over, say, three or four years). The council tax unit are well known bully boys. Look at the CAB website and see if they can help. Good luck!
