What is the point of 'rational discussion'?

I have been very quiet recently.... watch this space...
Earlier this week, on the same day that Barclays had to concede that a large part of their 'business plan' is to evade their legal/moral tax liabilities, the anti-greed campaigners were expelled from St Pauls
Just now, I heard on the news that the BIG FOUR have taken billions of pounds of 1% loans from the ECB fund which is supposed to be an aid to the Euro Crisis
But the BIG FOUR (as well as BIG DAVE and BIG CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER etc) have continually claimed to have no part in the Euro Crisis
These guys are BIG CROOKS, please stop regarding my posts as 'irrational'

It's quite Cathartic.
You should try it once in a while.'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -
It's a pity you can't tax populist stupidity. The deficit would be gone in seconds

There is nobody whom these guys do not regard as 'fair game' - not homeowners, not taxpayers, not governments
And they can get away with it because all the wealth in the world lies in their vaults and under their control

How much of HSBC's profit is earnt from UK banking activity?
Just 10%.
Banks became international players many many years ago.0 -

In the wine bars and lap dancing clubs of London this Friday night, am I more likely to hear:
1. A sober debate about how to pass on the benefits of the ECB 1% billions to the banks' customers and savers, or
2. Drunken celebrations as the individuals involved calculate their likely next year's bonuses
?

ps since the combined efforts of the goverments of the western world are unable to find a solution to the dominance of the banks, it would be surprising if the protestors would be able to do any better. The role of 'protest' is to highlight an issue of concern - it is the job of governments to provide solutions, but in this case they so far continue to fail, and there has been no recent overwhelming public opposition to the anti-banker sentimentAccording to Clapton, I am a totally ignorant idiot.0 -

The 'out of context' thing is a politician's cop-out
I don't trust the media any more than I trust the banks, but the BBC News tonight did not hesitate to imply out loud that the UK banks had seen an opportunity to rip-off the ECB, and taken it as fast as they could
On this occasion, I trust the BBC

I certainly hope so. The ECB are offering ridiculously cheap cash on the open market. Why should British banks not take advantage? They need to strengthen themselves as much as possible for the fall-out from the Euro crisis. And two of the banks in question are part taxpayer-owned.0
