I get paid in cash and didn't realise I had a really filthy £1 coin that I doubt anyone would accept.

I used Cillit Bang on it, but it's turned the £1 coin bright green :D

The only thing i can use it for now is the stamp machine at the Post Office ;)

Hmm, interesting thread, as I started a "coin collection" in a jar of leftover pickled onion vinegar. I soon changed my mind, and used ordinary vinegar. The copper coins are fine, but I'm just washed the rest of the coins, as they don't like vinegar. But I'll keep the vinegar coppers jar going.

best cleaned with a cream silver polish

but it's best to use prevention, always wash and dry EPNS cutlery as soon as possible after use

I did a science experiment with my son (Mummy polishes her halo) to find out why tomato ketchup gets coins shiny. We read the instructions then soaked coins in the main ingredients to see which one was "magic".

    The winner was.... vinegar!

I had saucers full of vinegar, sugar, mayonnaise (to test the theory that anything in a bottle would work), tomato puree and sugar stinking out the kitchen. I hope he remembers me when he becomes a world famous scientist

Make chocolate cake instead, people prefer chocolate. Ditto fatless sponge.

Fig Newton biscuits always work for me ;)

Believe it or not, about 8 years ago a friend of mine gave me a tip to stop cherries sinking in a cake.

Put half a cap of malt vinegar in the mix! And it works!

You can't taste the vinegar BTW.

Overlord for the Axis of Evil (part time) :D
