M&S Non Bio Laundry Liquid.

Does anyone here ever buy the M&S Non Bio Laundry Liquid in the blue bottle? In the past it's been on BOGOF at £2:89, making it excellent value and undercutting some of the supermarkets.

However, I was in my local branch last night and they've changed the bottle. The same colour and graphics, but it's lost between 50 to 100 mls. It's non promotion price is a little below £2:89 from what I recall, but I still think it's worse value than before.

Please be aware of this size and price change if you sometimes buy this product. I'd love to know their justification for doing this sort of change, but it can't be good for the consumer.

The justification is the rising cost of raw materials. The consumer doesn't seem to appreciate the fact that this is a recession. Our money is worth less. Prices are going up. They are going to carry on going up, because everything costs more to produce. What supermarkets try to do is to keep an item at a price point that they believe is acceptable to the consumer. In order to do this, and not put the price up, they have to make the item smaller.

I agree with Haffiana to a point but Quorn fillets and fish fingers, Jaffa cakes and Mars bars for OH all look teeny now.

    Hi Haffiana,

I do appreciate this, as I'm sure most consumers do. I just think it's dishonest as the reduction in size won't be noticed by everyone.

There will always be people who pick an item up if the price is the same, unaware that they're paying for less of the product.
