Aldi's frozen dauphinoise potatoes

I wasn't sure where to post this question so appologies if it is in the wrong place.

I bought some of the frozen dauphinoise potatoes from Aldi and when I checked the cooking instructions it doesn't say if I have to defrost first or not. Does anybody know if I have to defrost them before cooking or just cook from frozen?

Thank you in advance for any help.:)

i cooked from frozen and they were fine.
Opinion on everything, knowledge of nothing.
  • Thank you kittycat, didn't want my oven on cooking them for them not to cook properly because I should have defrosted them! I spent ages looking at the packaging wondering if I had missed it being on there.

I always assumed that anything you buy frozen is intended to be cooked from frozen unless it states otherwise

That was my thoughts but you know when you start to doubt yourself , especially when the oven would be on for such a long time.

I tend to defrost most things before cooking; means the oven is on for less time so saving money. Electric ovens really eat the electricity!

Ive never tried the frozen potato dauphinoise - but the gratin potatoes from the chiller are lovely! we normally have them with the 'proper' gammon (also from the chiller).

I too assume that if the product is meant to be defrosted it will say so on the packaging! (and been known to hasten cooking time by bunging in the microwave for a short while).
  • my dh loved the dauphinoise and he's the fussy on in the house!

They are nice, and i cooked them from frozen, i will b buying them again
Still here..... but working on that!

The fresh ones in boxes from Lidl are really, really nice, enough for 2 or 3 for about 85p.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
