every inch of carpet in my house has been vacuumed and shampoo'd today. I have a lot of aches in places i shouldnt have aches. Stairs are hard work!

Thus, I am going to bed now.

A quick update before I go catch-up

Well it has been a very tiring but rewarding day. Our friends got here 11 am and we called at Lidl before making a start on the 2nd storage unit. Their friend they are staying with came along later and helped too. The three of them took every single thing out of the unit, I sorted it into put on fire, skip, for home, for eBay, for auction and belonging to our mate, who called round and took his stuff out of the way. After I'd sorted through the boxes, the lads put the auction stuff back in but at one side so I can get into the units, both of them, and right to the back to get stuff out. I am going to see a friend who has a much larger van to call and pick up some of the boxes, etc and put it into the auction for us. We can't put it into the auction all at once, or you flood the auction and it doesn't sell, so it will need a few trips to get it all down there and sold

When we had it all done, the lads and I went over to see Mr 3Dogs who is rather down at the moment and just wants to get home. His stoma system is settling down a bit, though he is still on that drip to help. He wants me to call at the kennels again and ask them to rehome Bess too, as well as Billy :(:( as he says he won't be able to manage even her walks. I just don't know what to do for the best. I know I struggle to walk the dogs due to my arthritis, sciatica, etc, and he doesn't think he will be able to walk them at all. I think it is as much a case of him not wanting to leave me with the dogs to look after on my own, when I can't handle it :o:o

Anyway, as I was leaving, Mr 3Dogs said, through tears, "I don't know how I can ever thank them enough for what they've done" meaning the time, effort, and money, that our friends Steve and Andy have spent these last three days to come all the way up here from New Forest to help me sort out the units :o:o They truly are angels :A :A

I'm pleased that you've got some good friends helping to sort things out. With regards to rehoming Bess as well as Billy, what a tough decision. I wouldn't do anything in haste as when Mr 3Dogs returns home and is in his own environment, he will probably feel more positive and your dogs will be a huge comfort to you both. What QPR10 said about someone else walking them is a good idea. I recall when I was a teenager (many moons ago), that I would walk neighbours dogs for them as I loved dogs and wasn't allowed one of my own.

Thinking of you both and, even though I'm not religious, I'll say a prayer for you both tonight. xxx

thanks for all your supportive comments, guys, it's much appreciated. RootedNomad has it pretty much spot on, your thread is very much above the parapet because of its nature and because there have been many reports about it in the past so it's already treading on thin ice.

I appreciate how important this thread is to so many of you so if I can help to keep it 'in line' and keep its profile lower by occasional deletes and reminders then things won't get reported and it benefits both you and MSE in general. I'm grateful for your understanding :)

Let me guess, people report this thread because we chat a lot?
