What are you saying Ajay? Do you need some help filling in an application form with this question?

Are you a member of a sports team? Are you a member of a committee?

If not, you could use a family situation to show team work. For example, if a family member had a health crisis in the past........you had to get the family together to show a united front and get them the care they needed or get them back on their feet following an operation.

Is this the sort of thing to help?

I've been asked at interview 1: what do you think makes a good team? and 2: what could stop the team working effectively? and 3: what would YOU do to remedy that situation. As my interview was deemed a pass, perhaps my answers could help you personalise yours: 1:support, friendship, an equal feeling of worth (they seemed to like that one, and I made it up on the spot! I was kinda meaning that someone not so good at A might be good at B and someone else might be good at B but rubbish at A, so they would complement each other), just knowing when your workmate needs a shoulder to cry on, or a cure-all cuppa. 2: If someone isn't pulling their weight, or contributing equally, the team will suffer. I prolly said more, but I can't remember. 3: finding out WHY that person isn't on the ball. Is it personal problems, training needs, or are they in the wrong job completely? These things can be worked out, sometimes within the team, sometimes by making a tough decision and going to a supervisor.

Can you relate to any of this? HTH

aye, I had great fun filling in mine! but it was over 3 years ago now and I can't remember what I put, something along the lines of setting targets and working together to acheive it ie lets see who can upsell the most buy get one half price this hour, person who does the worst has to make the teas.

As others have said, could be any situation: as well as getting family to pull together, think about fundraising at school, any committee you've ever been on, Scouts/Guides/youth group, any event you've ever helped organise. You don't have to have been the 'team leader' - sometimes there isn't one, and sometimes as a member of a team you can just help everyone else give their best. Thinking of what I'd get my sons to put if they were in this situation: they've been on school ski trips, so vital to be a good team player from the moment the coach sets off to the moment it gets back. You don't want someone moaning throughout a 20 hour coach journey that their seat's not comfy, their head hurts etc, and then you want everyone to be organised to get to the coach on time each morning to get to the ski slopes, so if you're a good team person you'll help the disorganised ones find their ski socks etc.

Don't invent anything, but hopefully that will give you some ideas. If you've got any previous shop experience, try to find an example from that, like working with colleagues to stock take efficiently, find the best way of doing things, helping a customer if a colleague is busy even if you're in the middle of something else (not with a customer, obviously!)

I have recently completed a group assignment, which involved working with several other individuals on a large project, where I had been assigned the team leader. To build a good team spirit thought out my team I encouraged support and friendship. I also made sure that every team member had an equal feeling of worth. This allowed my team to communicate amongst each other and with me in a more efficient manner, and also allowed greater productivity as a whole. I learnt that when working in a group communication and compromise between team member is the key for a successful outcome.

    What do you think??

Sounds good but do you mean through where I have highlighted the word in the quote? It is always important to get the little details right when applying for a job. Good luck hope you get it.:)
