£140K will get you a house off Holywood Road (and not in an estate either) which is just a few minutes from the Bypass and arterial links to motorways, the ring road towards Belvoir and along the coast to Bangor. Houses there were costing over £200K just a few years ago.

Dont buy in Belfast . You dont know the area . Rent for 6 months and find your own likes and dislikes .

I'd highly recommend the Ormeau area, and you would definitely get value for your money at that price!

Ormeau is very up-and-coming, you have forrestside at the top of it, and you can quickly get onto the motorway to head north via Ravenhill.

I live right beside Ormeau bakery, and its quiet, safe area, Dunnes is handy for shopping, great bars, excellent Vineyard offlicence, great restaurants (Macau, Grafitti, Gaze etc. ) Great takeaways, and only 20mins walk into town, or buses every 5 minutes!

Excellent advice for anyone moving to unknown parts. Surprising (sometimes alarming) what you discover when you live in an area for a few months. You could find it just doesn't suit for some reason, feels wrong. You will also get a good idea of the properties in the area, the price and the options.

I too would go for lisburn road/finaghy or Ormeau road

And there are properties within your budget in this area

    For example

And there is a number of options on the "village" side of the lisburn road

Good luck witht the search. And Don't rule any areas out due to perception.

Gosh both look seriously over priced in my opinion. £135 for a 2 bed flat in Belfast:eek:. The other is a terrace...

OMG (and as an aside) i just rightmoved Belfast and 40 miles around. My but you can get a lot of house for not too much money. Are things going to get worse?
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
