Quick Quidco question re car insurance

I've just got a quote from Barclays through Quidco, it's a little more expensive than another quote I have had, but by the time the Quidco cashback has been paid, it works out £40 cheaper.

My question is, will Quidco track a retrieved/saved quote, or is it better to start from scratch?

Also, is there any way you can find out when the limited time offers on Quidco, with the little clock, run out?

  • I'm still waiting for my cash back through quidco with Lloyds car insurance - from the 19th October!
  • You are best to start completely from scratch.

Also bear in mind that the Quidco payments are by no means guaranteed, many people took out Barclays insurance over 6 months ago and have still not been paid.

    so:
    1) Think is it worth the risk - how much could I save?
    2) Look at which are most reliable for tracking - Zurich for instance have a hugely higher success rate for tracking than Barclays do.
  • I've done Lloyds tsb Car insurance and House insurance. Car has tracked but has not been paid yet, house didn't track and I've submitted a querie.

DH has just done AA car insurance and it tracked within minutes but obviously takes a while to pay out.

I'd say although it a pain I'd start from scratch with your quote and go roght through to payment stage.

Not sure how you can find out when they stop? AA stated £70 but had a note on to say it was back down to £60 from December and tracked at £60.

Also bear in mind that you usually have a 14 day 'cooling off ' period, so as long as your careful not to leave yourself with no insurance ie: your renewal is a while away, you could give it say 10days to track and if it hasn't cancel & go for another company or try putting it through again maybe?

Debt free HOORAY !:T :A Years from now it won't matter what kind of car we drove, what kind of house we lived in, how much money we had in the bank, nor what our clothes looked like but the world may be a little better because, we were important in the lives of our children.

I went with screentrade via quidco as it was advertised as £120 cashback. At present the cashback is showing as £20 in my earnings, is this normal and will be changed to the £120 in due course?
Debt free = December 2010...as of March 2006 it is now January 2010..... as of December 2008 it is now December 2009 :j hopefully sooner!!
:jDEBT FREE:j January 2012, took longer but I got there, all by myself, through sheer hard work and pride!
  • Thanks. :) I don't know if it's worth going for it if there's no guarantee of payment. :?

I think you are probably right, for the sake of £40 (and potentially losing more than £40) I wouldn't bother (especially with all the barclays horror stories). I would only do it if it was a similar price anyway so I could only gain and not lose much. Make sure you shop around properly though ;)

careful with lloyds tsb/screentrade, as far as i can see they have no tracking history. A few people, myself included have failed to see a policy track. That said other MSErs have had no problems.

Just my view, I've been paid nearly £280 with quidco and everything tracked with exception to lloyds tsb insurance.

Cancelled my policy and took out a prudential policy on quidco, £20 more expensive.... and it tracked within 2 minutes.
  • I have gone through Quidco using Prodential for hubbys car insurance tracked straight away £100 cash back.
I have also been looking to take Holiday Insurance out Both my Hubby and I have a quidco account we would get more cashback if we take the hol insurance seperatly has anyone done this? and has it worked on both accounts?

No probs here with Zurich. Tracked within a couple of days and they paid really quickly.
Ah! Good old trusty beer... I hope you never change.

OH and I both had tracked policies with Prudential - £100 each and no problems. Quick payout too.
