Angry rant at santander!

Hi,

Angry rant!!!

Been with Santander for two years with my Mortgage.

Phoned them a few weeks ago asking for a deal and got offered a nice 5 year fixed.

On the phone we discussed that at the end of my current mortgage, before i transfer to the new one, i'd like to pay a lump sum of £10,000. No problem they said, it will automatically come off before the transfer.

I also discussed reducing my mortgage by 3 years (making it 20). No problem, your payments will increase by ~£30 per month to £450. Is this affordable? Yes its not a problem at all.

So i recieve a letter this morning, stating i have overpaid on my current mortgage and i am being charged a fee.

My payments are now £371 per month which makes me think this has not had the 3 year reduction!!!!

Thats all i recieved. No confirmation of ANYTHING else....

I am so ANGRY!!!

If you have made an overpayment of more than allowed during your fixed rate period you will be charged a pro rata Early Repayment Charge.

You should have waited until the fixed period ended to make the overpayment even if this meant going on to Standard Variable Rate for a day or two.

Typical Santander though, their administration is shocking.

Its a bit late to leave them now its all processed (incorrectly)

We agreed on the phone how the payment was recieved and processed but clearly not done that way...calling them at 12....

It seems everything i do like this turns out to be a screw up and i have to go back over old ground.

And i'm sure i'm not the only one in the world...how do these people possibly make money...oh is that why banking is such a mess!
