We did well last week and follwed the plan... apart from wednesday where we celebrated DH last day at work with a special HM Dinner of Steak and Chips (The Steak was a Thank You gift so very frugal)

I know my menu's can be repetative, but it saves a lot of hassle not cooking very often (plus less washing up) and gives us more family time :)

Friday (No DS) - [STRIKE]LO Freezer Pot Luck - Beef Tikka Masala[/STRIKE] Mum's for Dinner - Free Food :D
Saturday (No DS) - [STRIKE]HM Nutty Chicken [/STRIKE][STRIKE]Curry[/STRIKE] :silenced: Freezer Pot Luck!
Sunday ( No DS) - HM Lasagne w/ Salad
Monday - Nutty Chicken Curry
Tuesday - LO Lasange
Wednesday - LO Nutty Chicken Curry
Thursday - LO Lasagne
Friday - HM Cheese and Onion Pizza

Hope everyone has a great week x

Sat down yesterday morning and done my mealplan for the month and bought all the necessary meat, fish etc. Didn't need to buy any pasta or rice as still have loads of pasta and about kg of rice left.

Sun 4 Roast pork, pots & veg
Mon 5 Pork & apple casserole & mash
Tues 6 Spanish Rice (already made & frozen)
Wed 7 Burger, chips & beans (possibly egg as well for OH)
    Thurs 8 Lasagne
Fri 9 Fish, chips & pea puree
    Sat 10 Beef bourguignon

We don't usually have chips twice in one week but the burgers need using up cos they've been in the freezer ages. We usually have fish on a Friday and as we're having a fish pasta bake today OH wanted fish & chips and not another pasta bake.

Breakfasts will be porridge, cereal or toast, except Sunday when we'll have a fry up.

Lunches will be LOs (some already frozen, others previous night's tea), eggs, soup or sandwiches. OH always takes LOs if there are any, otherwise sandwiches. I don't often have the LOs (there's not usually enough left for both of us!) so I usually have HM soup, something on toast (scrambled egg, cheese, beans) or a sandwich.

I have suddenly realised that most of my back up foods etc have gone. I have not been following my menu plans, or sticking to my budget. So this has reminded me I need to do a plan, then my shopping list. So thats my task for this evening.
I shall be out of meat completely by tomorrow, along with milk, eggs, and potatoes. Very little rice and pasta, and no fish or chicken. Except some chicken bones I froze months ago, for a soup stock and never made.
I really need to defrost the freezer so thats as good a time as any to do it.
Then its going to mean definitely looking out side of the box to use up the packet stuff that is lurking in the cupboards and rapidly getting out of date!.
Oh my, how did I slip so badly off of the beaten track? I have menu planned most of my life!! Budgetted within an inch of it for 30 years so why have I gone off the straight and narrow?
Thanks for reminding me that I should be planning and hopefully it will stop me in my tracks and no impulse buying as I pass the shops, or ordering from my organic deliveries and spending a fortune.

Stewing beef is all I have, so I will defrost it, and divide it into two meals. Maybe make some with gravy and onions, cook and use in a pie, and then use the other casseroled with carrots, leeks, and potatoes.
But I will need to think on for the rest of the week.
Perhaps a vegetable curry for the rest of the bits to be used up. With the last of the rice.
Then it will be a challenge without actually buying anything. Wonder how long I could actually last on what there is in the cupboards without buying much else? Perhaps this month is going to be look outside the box month.
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.

Our meal plan looks something like this (bit boring this week lol):-

Friday - Turkey meatballs and spaghetti for me and the kids. Dh - ravioli and chips
Saturday - I work so DH will cook the kids nuggets, mini waffles, carrots, peas and sweetcorn and when I get home we will have waffles, eggs and beans.
Sunday - Pasta bake for everyone
Monday - Again I work so my mum feeds the kids. Dh will have a tin of something and I usually have a bowl of cereal.
Tuesday - Salad (which consists of cucumber, carrots, toms, lettuce, ham, jacket pot, coleslaw and pot salad.
Wednesday - Pea & Bacon pasta for me and DH (Jamie Oliver recipe), DD1 & DD2 pasta and not sure about DS1 yet
Thursday -DH - Macaroni cheese and mash, me and the kids fish fingers and mash with veggies.

Breakfast is cereal for the kids and me (if I remember to have it!) Lunches are packed lunches for DH and DD1, sandwiches or crackers for me, DD2 and DS1 (or I might have some HM soup). Snacks are usually fruit of some description and kids always have a yoghurt after dinner.
    2 adults and 3 children DD (14), DD (12) & DS (10) :smileyhea and 2 mental beagles.
