Evidence again of a bigger reason why the UK is being held back, many blame banks for not lending to business but how do we look to the rest of the world when we have a scum bag like this guy wanting to bring us to a halt because he can.
I can see it now one month pre Olympics, how about air traffic controllers coming out that should cause the athletes problems.
One week before it could be the UK border force that could cause chaos to overseas visitors coming in for the games.
Then the main event, how about tanker drivers, taxi drivers & bus drivers all striking for more pay? We could also get the railways out Bob will be up for that.
Just what we need Len thanks and of course make sure all members use up their 'entitled' sick days over the summer
Welcome to Britain 1979 err 2012
Not mentioned tube drivers btw as we know they will be off anyway lol.
UNITE = SCUM

I doubt very much that there will be any "official" Industrial action during or before the Games.
However I think his call for civil disobedience is highly irresponsible, and probably totally against the wishes or interests of his members.'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -

I bet he was dancing all around his living room during the summer riots too. The guy is probabbly on a six figure wage as well.
Meanwhile current membership is £11.99 per month for what? Did non union members not get a wage rise when times were good?
My advice to anyone in Unite is to dump them and save £143 per year! ummmm
I wonder if Martin Lewis would take this up, I bet he does not contribute
lol
Choose no union ,choose another union, but dump Unite.0 -
The weird thing about unions is that you dont actually need to be a member to get the benefits. Non union staff get the benefits and payrises negotiated by the union, and if you actually get unfairly dismissed or anything like that the union will let you join afterwards and then provide you with the same services the would if you had been paying membership for 40 years.
Only a mug would pay in every month.0 -

That £11.99 per month is desperately needed.
After all, Len McCluskey's predecessor at UNITE trousered over £500,000 in pay and perks last year.
If hard working union members don't cough up £11.99 a month, then how on earth would the great and good of UNITE get by?
Total Remuneration, 2010/11
Derek Simpson Unite the Union £510,659
Dave Prentis Unison £131,496
Bob Crow RMT £123,833
Matt Wrack Fire Brigades Union £120,174
Christine Blower NUT £116,836
Mark Serwotka PCSU £113,354Nothing is foolproof, as fools are so ingenious!

and people think bankers are the one's taking the UK for a ride!!!
I would like to hear from a Unite member if there are any not embarrassed enough to explain why they pay £11.99 to this guy giving him a huge wage and the ability spill the bile he has today about the Olympics in their name!!0 -
I pay my 11.99/month - I think I'm the only union member at our place
I got 000's in legal representation a few years ago
looks like I'll get a few more this year as they've forced my company into negotiating a compromise agreement rather than just statutory redundancy pay that the rest are getting
The fact that I can take them to a tribunal without fear that it'll cost me convinced them settling would be wise0 -
DH was a member of Unite but the writing was on the wall for them for a bit before he took over the helm. He's (DH) left them now and joined a different union, who hopefully won't be inciting civil disobedience. McCluskey's clearly an idiot and doing absolutely no favours to Labour. Given that he used to be one of Unite's industrial strategy gurus you'd think he'd be coming up with great ideas to get people back into work rather than spouting crap. Some hope there. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? There is only one word to describe unions in this country: Dinosaurs.0

Thing is though, Bob Crowe ALWAYS gets what he demands for his members. Makes the other union leaders look a bit pathetic.0

A union cannot stop non-members from freeloading on the efforts of the union in its collective bargaining. But there is nothing to stop a non-union member negotiating directly with an employer, in fact with your attitude maybe you should try it?
Of course there is more to being being a member than collective bargaining. Non-union members do not get support from the union if they have a problem like a disciplinary incident. Its right that all members get the same support for something that happens when they are a member. Suppose you take out house insurance today and next week your house burnt down. Would you think it fair if your insurer paid you less favourably than someone who had been with them for 40 years?Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0
