Probably Silly Question Re: addresses and Bank Accounts

Hi Guys
I was wondering if you could answer a question for me. I lived at an address but have since moved but a friend of mine has moved into that address, this was about 8-9 months ago.
i have spoke to him today and he said that a company (one of the company's i happen to owe money to) has taken £xxx amount out of his bank and he has never had any dealings with this company. So basically my question is, can i company take money from someone's bank account just because we have the same address? I thought i changed the address but just thinking just in case. I have no ties with this friend what so ever so i doubt but just want to make sure this can't happen.
he has reported it to his bank and their fraud team too.
Thanks for your help
