Not sure about the answer to your question but the Virgin One mortgage is different to the One account. It was originally a product marketed/owned by Virgin but administered in part by the RBS and it is still branded as a Virgin one account.
  • Kippygirl,

Got your PM and I am one of those early accounts.

I am interested in what you say, could you PM more please.

I was annoyed when the rate rise letter came - pretty much out of the blue.

Due to the economic situation in the country at the moment, I have not had a pay increase since mid 2007. The relatively low mortgage rates were one of the few things that helped since then, as the cost of most other things seems to have risen, while peoples pay has been static.

I would love to move from the One Account to another offset mortgage that give better rates, but having purchased my house in 2005, at 90% LTV, I still aren't below the 75% threshold that most banks now seem to be using. On top of that, the house is probably worth pretty much the same as when I purchased it, having gone up a bit, down a lot & then up a bit in that time (according to the Land Registry website).

R:BS keep phoning me up to suggest that I reduce the level of the facility that I'm not using - I am still unclear why this is of any benefit to me - despite perhaps being of benefit to them.

Hello kippygirl. Wondered if there are any updates on the Virgin One Account saga?
  • Hi all -

Just wondering what the current status is re: prior discussions on the One account. I was an early customer (mid-1998) but am very miffed with RBS handling and constant reply letters of "read the terms". Anything we can do aside from walking away? Am about to contact them with regard to LIBOR fixing fines.

    Thanks!
