Designer/mulberry bags

Hi all,
I was looking to buy a mulberry bag for my 21st but can't justify spending £700 on a bag! Does anybody know where I may be able to pick one up cheaper?
Thanks for your help :)

  • Would you consider one second hand??? Have a look on eBay, there are some sellers that sell them new for reduced prices- there may be some with very slight cosmetic flaws with 200 off the RRP. I got a daria off there a month ago, buyer had brought in the Mulberry shop and had to sell as she had fell pregnant, and it was a brand new Daria for £320 (there about £550 im sure) and it is perfect.

Do you have a designer outlet near you? I dont know how far you are from Cheshire Oaks, theres a Mulberry outlet there. I *think* (I may be wrong) theres an outlet at the one at Bicester.

Theres designer outlets all over the country, so have a look.

You better off buying something vintage IMO, they will soon go out of fashion- but the classic chanel bags have been in style for decades and will remain in fashion for a long time.

I only got the daria as it was significantly reduced, so would of been stupid to miss it especially as she was 2 minutes down the road and it meant I could go and see it

I could be a millionaire, and I still wouldn't spend that much on a handbag.

How nice for you. No reason for anyone else not to though, is it?
  • Shepton Mallet has a Mulberry Outlet store, so long as you dont mind buying last season but they are half the price. I visited last October and could have spent a fortune, I did treat myself to a bag and its worth every penny!

It's not a mean-spirited comment, but about a sense of proportion. I had a similar conversation with my secretary a while ago, when she opted out of the pension scheme so she could spend more on shoes.

Spending hundreds on a handbag may be doable when you're young with no household responsibilities, but for many people on this site it's an amount of money that could buy essentials. It's only as you get older that you start to appreciate the money wasted on things that really make no difference to your quality of life.

I have no difficulty in paying for quality, but personally cannot buy into the whole designer concept. How much happiness is a handbag really going to bring anyone? There are other ways of treating yourself that aren't so costly.

Shepton Mallet does have the best outlet stock. I try not to go past it any more and I'm on a self imposed ban from buying anymore. Since my first Mulberry I've got rid of all my Radleys and now wouldn't want to use anything else.

Definitely worth a visit but if you are too far away use mulberry.com to choose the style of bag you are after and then ring round some of the outlets and ask them if they have any in stock and in what colours. They are always happy to post them.

They are always happy to post them as long as they are not subs.

If you are buying on eBay you can get the bag authenticated on http://forum.purseblog.com/mulberry-shopping/authenticate-this-mulberry-please-read-post-1-first-712624.html

There are lovely ladies on there who will be able to tell you if the bag is genuine or not, there are a lot of fakes on eBay, some of them very convincing!

I highly recommend Mulberry bags, though I'm more of a fan of the older styles. I have 6 soon to be 7 and love them:)

Mulberry outlets are in York, Cheshire Oaks, Shepton Mallet and Bicester. Please note there are NO online outlets, there are hundreds of fake sites.

I'm not sure why you felt the need to reply with such negative and useless comments! As this post clearly shows there are many people who are prepared to pay that much for a bag and there is no need to try and dimiss those who do. I work hard for my money and if I want to treat myself on such an occassion I will!

Thanks everybody for your help though I will definatley be looking into the outlet stores!!

I'd be careful buying on eBay - there are dozens of fakes there and the purseblog (good as it is) does not give you a binding assurance that your purchase is genuine. You could still potentially end up with a fake which would be awful if this is a special present.

The only really bad experience I've had on eBay was with a Mulberry. The bag was definitely genuine but the vendor had photographed it carefully to avoid showing the water stains and the pen marks on the leather. I had to go down the dispute process and it took a while to get my money back.
