You could always get rid of the telly and watch dvd's via the pc... if you can tear yourselves away from MSE for a couple of hours that is :D

The TV licensing authority don't care if I use the set to watch DVDs or use it as a coffee table, if it's a TV capable of receiving a signal I have to pay the licence fee! Paying a stonking fine just to save £100 a year really isn't good MSE practice.

    Not correct.

What if I only use a TV to watch videos/DVDs/as a monitor for my games console? Do I still need a licence?

You need to notify us in writing that this is the case and one our Enforcement Officers may need to visit you to confirm that you do not need a licence.

Please write to us including your name, address and the reason you believe that you don't need a licence at:

Taken from the TV Licensing website.

So you can have a TV, video, DVD player and console without needing to pay the TV tax. Only have to pay if you're using the TV to receive or record TV programmes through for aerial, cable or satellite.

You could quite legally get your TV tax paying mate next door to record Eastenders for you, give you the tape and watch it on your TV without having a licence..

I do like the idea of the bath bombs but only if I could make a copy of 'Waving Not Drowning' :D

To be honest though, I've cut down on loads of things, I've quit buying my weekly magazines, cut out chocolate and lost so much weight I now have to spend money on new jeans. I maybe spend £15 every two months on Lush, a woman must be allowed one luxury or life is not worth living and the children might end up in mortal danger from an exasperated mother :D

That was a joke by the way for anyone who thought I may truly hurt my kids for the sake of a bathbomb!
Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

Just wanted to say how awful it must have been for you to have only afforded to live on a diet of tea, rice, popcorn and peas.

I still have to escorted through the concourse if I go to the cinema incase I have some kind of gourmet popcorn spasm.

To be honest the bath bombs sound a bit fiddly to me, but I do love to relax with my bath salts, milk or soaks because I don't get on well with all the additives and things in shop bought bath stuff. And I can make the smell exactly how I want it and come out all fragrant and soft! Ooh, wish I was at home now!

And yes, a woman must be allowed (at least!) one luxury in life. :D
