Or is the best solution to send it by Next Day Special Delivery no later than Friday ... but Royal Mail don't really offer a next day SD on a Friday do they?

    yes they do
Special Delivery™ Next Day with Guaranteed Saturday Delivery
  • We had our paperwork sent last year by recorded delivery and they tried to say they did not get it, then there was a back log etc and it still took six weeks to get sorted.

Definitely send by special Next day delivery !!!!!!! and ring them up on the day to make sure they have got it.

    2S2ES - Hiya.

    I'm with EDF and will try to run through in order;

Deadline is probably midnight or 11:59 on Friday night.

Have you rung EDF's Green Team, they are very helpful, but might be busy. 0800 404 9087

Ask them for all their company specific rules.

Ask them for an electronic version of the FITs form. I have an electronic version of the FITs application from August last year, PM me with an e-mail address, if you don't already have one, and it's still current.

Your responsibility to get a completed application to the company, ask them if they accept electronic, fax, hand delivered etc.

They will normally allow amendments after the fact, but ..... let's be serious, try to get it right, don't want to miss out.

    What else?

MCS registration, I'm sure I've heard that an installer could get the certificate in 2 mins from the web-site, but now that's become hours. I think they can send you an electronic version for passing on to the company temporarily, but again check with EDF.

Export, most people either don't get asked, don't know, or don't care. Deemed export 50%, you may actually export 50% to 75%. However at this point (and at 3.1p) I'd opt out, the difference won't be much, and if you have to pay a monthly fee for an import/export meter, you'd probably lose overall. Worry / research this after you've got the system registered.

Ring EDF now. Seriously, ring them now, have a think, then pop back on here. Ring them now - get the point!

    Good luck, speak soon.

2S2ES - Me again. Tried to PM you the FIT's form for practice, but I wasn't able. Too big I suspect.

Last point, EDF will want a copy of the final invoice, marked as paid.

I have Fit registered with Eon and EDF, neither are particularly good. Helpful on the phone if you can get through but don't follow up in practice.

Good Energy have an excellent reputation, you don't need to buy your fuel from them and they will accept an email application up to the deadline.

MCS certificates are taking 8 hours at the minute not the 2 mentioned on the site but an mcs number is automatically allocated as soon as the information is entered - it's just the generation of the certificate that takes the time. If you ring Good Energy they may accept the application with the certificate number until the certificate is generated.

You're not at the 11th hour - that's tomorrow, tell your friend not to worry :-)

Not sure whether your question has been answered. I think what needs doing by the dealine is
    - the fit payer has to have received the application form, the certificate, and an invoice marked 'paid' (at least that's what I had to supply to scot power).

That in itself raises a few questions. Like what if the application form has an error, or isn't signed - I have no idea. Also the date and time of the dealine - is it midnight of the 2nd or the 3rd? Also, I'm not sure the supplier will be great at keeping separate the last post before the dealine, and the first post after (which both may be outside office hours).

All in all, a late application looks like a bit of a gamble on top of the other gamble which is that even those meeting the dealine may still end up with 21p and not 44p. Obviously, applications now need sending with some sort of quick special delivery and signed for on delivery.
