DMP Start Date Help

Options
Hi all,

We've now had the figs come through from PayPlan and we think, with some determination, we'll be able to stick to them.

Payplan have suggested that the plan should start with the first payment leaving our accounts on the 27th March.

Obviously we need to send them confirmation of the various references etc and start writing to creditors...

Question is... we have a number of payments due now and in the next 2 weeks or so. Are we ok to send slightly reduced token payments now, knowing the plan is due to go ahead shortly or do we need to have sent letters explaining the situation and let PayPlan do their bits behind the scenes before we send payments less than the minimum?

I'm waiting for PayPlan to call me back but just thought I'd gauge the general concensus.

Thanks

I think people are generally advised to send token payments with a letter explaining you are seeking advice from X.

    There is a template - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=21937969&postcount=52

    But check with Payplan.

When we started we didn't even send a token payment. We just informed them that we were sorting a debt management plan and were seeking advice from CAB. Save the spare money for a rainy day after you start paying payplan. After three months of trying to sort out which route to go down, we decided to go alone. But until we did this we didn't pay any creditors but were able to purchase things that we really needed ie. new tyres for the car, new glasses (not been able to afford any for over 5 years!) etc.

    Good luck
